Have your school employees completed their required annual bloodborne pathogens training? Now is a great time to train your staff to ensure you are in compliance with OSHA’s bloodborne pathogens standard. Here are a couple quick refreshers on the standard.
What are Bloodborne Pathogens?
Bloodborne pathogens are disease-causing microorganisms that are present in human blood or other potentially infectious materials. Examples of bloodborne pathogens include HIV and Hepatitis A, B and C.
Who is Covered Under the Standard?
All workers who are “reasonably anticipated” to have an occupational exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials in the course of their employment need to be included in your
bloodborne pathogens program and receive annual bloodborne pathogens training. In most schools, this includes almost all staff members.
