EMC Appoints Zuleika Cuevas as AVP – Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

DES MOINES, Iowa (June 9, 2022)—EMC Insurance Companies has announced the hiring of Zuleika Cuevas as assistant vice president – diversity, equity, and inclusion. In this position, Cuevas will work with internal and external stakeholders to embed diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) into all business and people strategies at the company.

“Zuleika is a big picture and innovative thinker, and she approaches DE&I through a highly collaborative lens,” said Executive Vice President, Beth Nigut. “Her expertise and leadership will ensure EMC’s progress toward a sustainable culture of inclusivity, where all our team members feel valued, respected and empowered.”

Cuevas joins EMC with over two decades of experience in both insurance and DE&I. She began her career at Allstate Insurance Company and served for 20 years in roles within product management and DE&I. Most recently, Cuevas served as senior diversity business partner for Klaviyo. Additionally, Cuevas maintains her role as an adjunct professor in the School of Professional Studies at New York University in New York City, N.Y.

She received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Pace University in New York City, N.Y., a master’s degree in organizational communication from Kean University in Union, N.J. and a master’s degree in business administration from Adelphi University in Garden City, N.Y.
