2020 EMC DAM to DSM Road Race Moves to Virtual Event

DES MOINES, Iowa (July 15, 2020)—It was announced yesterday by RipRoar Events that the 2020 EMC DAM to DSM road race will now be a virtual event due to the ongoing coronavirus health crisis.

The event was slated to be held in downtown Des Moines on Sept. 5, and registrants will now be encouraged to complete their 20K or 10K runs independently at any time between Aug. 31 and Sept. 7, dubbed “Race Week." Prior to Race Week, registrants will be provided the race gear that they would normally receive on the morning of the event. After they have completed their runs, racers can submit their times to be eligible for traditional race awards.

“At RipRoar, we aim to build healthier communities through our events, so we felt like we had an obligation to transition the 2020 EMC DAM to DSM to a virtual event and prioritize the health of our athletes, staff and community. In the coming weeks, we are excited to focus on building the best possible experience for racers,” said Race Director Michael Zimmerman.

In April 2020, it was announced that the 2020 EMC DAM to DSM would be postponed from its traditional date of Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend.
