Personal Auto

If you’re like most people, driving is a part of your every day life. EMC’s personal auto policy protects you against claims for which you may become liable due to an automobile accident. Here’s a summary of the coverages available through EMC’s personal auto:

Liability Coverage — Protects the owners or drivers of a vehicle for amounts they are legally liable to pay, up to the policy limits, because of an auto accident. Liability coverage includes bodily injury and property damage.

Medical Payments — Protects the insured and passengers in the insured vehicle against the cost of injuries from a car accident regardless of who was at fault for the accident.

Personal Injury Protection (PIP) — Varies by state, but typically protects the insured for medical expenses, work loss and funeral expenses.

Uninsured Motorists/Underinsured Motorists (UM/UIM) — Typically pays for bodily injury sustained by you and the occupants of an insured vehicle as a result of an accident caused by a driver without adequate insurance, but not for damage to the insured’s vehicle. Since this coverage varies by state, be sure to discuss this coverage with your local EMC insurance agent.

Uninsured Motorists Property Damage (UMPD) — Pays for damage to an insured vehicle resulting from an accident in which the driver of the other vehicle is at fault and does not have insurance. This coverage is not available in all states. Be sure to check with your local EMC insurance agent about availability and limit options.

Collision Coverage — Pays for damage to an insured’s vehicle if it collides with another car or object or overturns. Collision coverage can be purchased only if Other than Collision Coverage (Comprehensive) is also purchased.

Other than Collision Coverage (Comprehensive)

Pays for losses caused by:

Towing Coverage — Pays the necessary costs for towing to the nearest place where repairs can be made when an insured’s vehicle becomes disabled. Towing coverage can be purchased when Collision and Other than Collision Coverages are purchased.

Other Optional Coverages:

Premium — The types of vehicles you own, your (and the members of your household) driving records, as well as the coverages and deductibles you select all affect the amount of your premium. We offer various discounts to our policyholders including:
