General Liability
Have you considered the financial loss that could occur if your products injure consumers?
Or what if someone falls while at your place of business? EMC’s commercial general
liability insurance can protect your business from losses such as these.
Here are some other examples of why general liability coverage is so important:
- Businesses may not only be liable to the direct purchaser for negligence resulting in injury or property damage as a result of defective design or production, but to the user as well, regardless of how many distribution channels have been involved. Manufacturers and contractors are especially susceptible to liability claims because they may be liable for products and services after they are sold.
- Salesperson statements and recommendations, advertising literature, instructions for use, sales literature and even anticipated methods of use constitute warranties.
Commercial general liability insurance protects your business from liability exposures including:
- Premises and operations
- Independent contractors
- Product liability
- Completed operations
Premises and operations liability coverage protects businesses from bodily injury or property damage caused by either accidents occurring at any premises (owned, rented or used by the insured) or accidents occurring away from the premises if they arise out of the insured’s operations.
If an operation utilizes independent contractors, they may be covered under the business’ policy if they unintentionally harm someone or something in the course of operation.
Workers’ Compensation
EMC is a proven leader in providing workers’ compensation coverage to
businesses like yours. As an employer, you have a statutory obligation to
protect an employee from accidental injury or death arising out of and in
the course of employment. We have helped employers protect their employees
for nearly 100 years with workers’ compensation insurance to cover the
medical expenses and lost wages of injured employees.
Beyond coverage, EMC’s innovative loss control services can help reduce the incidence and severity of loss. Plus, EMC’s medical management services can offer your company the opportunity to realize considerable cost savings.
Medical Management Services
Our nurses, medical consultants, case managers and vocational rehabilitation
specialists work directly with healthcare providers and you to assist
out-of-work employees in returning to the job as soon as possible, without
compromising their particular medical condition. Tailored to fit the needs
of your business, services can range from simply reviewing medical bills to
overseeing major workers’ compensation medical and disability cases.
Medical management services include:
- Access through a preferred provider organization (PPO)
- Medical claims review
- Utilization review
- Case management
- Rehabilitation services
- Return to work consultations
Umbrella Liability Policy
What would happen if your business suffered a $2,000,000 liability judgment, but your general
liability insurance only offered protection up to $1,000,000? How would the business cover
the additional $1,000,000?
To protect businesses in these situations, EMC offers commercial umbrella liability protection. This insurance covers losses above the limit of an underlying policy such as an EMC auto liability, general liability, or employers liability policy. After the limits of the primary policies have been reached, the umbrella policy covers the rest, up to the policy limit. Just one way EMC protects what you’ve worked so hard to achieve.
Commercial Crime Insurance
Businesses are vulnerable to crime — even when the necessary precautions have
been taken and security systems are in place. Your business may be even more vulnerable
because of the fact that crime losses are generally not covered in a commercial property policy.
Crime losses occur in a variety of ways including employee dishonesty, forgery, theft, burglary, robbery and extortion. Commercial crime insurance helps protect your business against all of these perils as well as the destruction or disappearance of money and securities.
Errors & Omissions Protection
Governmental subdivisions are responsible for the decisions and choices their employees
make throughout the course of their career. Sometimes the decisions made by
others in your business are not wise choices and can hurt your reputation and finances.
EMC’s linebacker policy covers liability for the “wrongful acts” of insureds that may occur through the process of conducting business: actual or alleged errors, misstatements or misleading statements, acts or omissions, and neglect or breach of duty by an insured.
Linebacker features:
- Available for public schools and political subdivisions
- Deductible applies to defense costs and payments for legal liability
- Basic limits are $100,000 each loss/$1,000,000 annual aggregate and limits up to $1,000,000/1,000,000 are available
- Unless endorsed to the contrary, all employees and volunteers (excluding independent contractors) of your organization are considered insureds under the policy
