The First Day & Beyond

Employee Orientation
We know the first impression a new employee has is a lasting one that can set the tone for a long and successful career with our company. That’s why the employee orientation process at EMC seeks to be efficient, well-integrated, people-focused and exciting for new employees.

Employee orientation provides important information in a logical flow while introducing new hires to the EMC culture. Our goal is to make sure that everyone has a consistent, complete and quality experience when they first join the EMC community.

Performance Management
It’s not only important that our new employees start on the right foot, but we want to help keep them there. Our performance management process helps employees understand how their job contributes to the “big picture” by tying individual employee objectives to larger corporate goals. The process also helps keep the lines of communication open between employees and managers, so employees know what is expected and can be more successful in their jobs.

Training Opportunities
At EMC, training and education is just one of the ways we invest in our employees. EMC provides many professional development opportunities for our employees such as in-house training workshops and classes offered through the American Institute for CPCU and Insurance Institute of America. In-house program topics include customer service, diversity, time management, harassment prevention, specific training for managers and supervisors, and more. EMC also offers monetary awards to employees when they achieve selected professional designations.

Communications
EMC’s Corporate Communications department helps keep employees informed and connected through: Circuit, an in-depth bimonthly employee newsletter; eSource, our employee intranet site; and eNews, a weekly email newsletter with current company news, upcoming company events, and education and benefits information. These resources give employees the scoop on everything from company initiatives to employee anniversaries and wellness activities.
