Health Insurance
EMC offers generous health insurance coverage, largely paid for by EMC, which includes
prescription drug coverage, vision and dental. Employees are eligible the first day of the
month following or coinciding with employment.
Paid Time Off (PTO) and Holidays
Employees are eligible for PTO the first day of hire. PTO accrual is based on
hours worked and years of employment. Traditional holidays are: New Year’s
Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the day after,
and two days at Christmas.
401(k) Plan
EMC matches 50% of the first 6% of your contributions to your 401(k) plan. EMC pays
all record keeping and administration fees. Employees are eligible to defer income
the first day of the month following employment and may roll funds from a prior
qualified plan when hired. Employees are vested in the company match after three years of service.
Pension Plan
EMC pays the full cost of a cash balance pension plan. Employees are eligible after
one year of continuous service or age 21, whichever is later. Employees are 100%
vested after three years of service or age 55 with one year of service.
Contingent Salary Plan
The Contingent Salary Plan (CSP) is an employee incentive plan directly related
to the profitability of the company. The CSP can potentially increase your total
compensation from EMC.
Life Insurance
EMC pays 100% of the life insurance premium for employees. The benefit is two times
your annual salary if you are full-time and $15,000 if part-time. Employees are eligible
the first day of the month following or coinciding with employment.
Beneflex
Beneflex is a flexible spending account that lets you set aside money pretax for
eligible medical and dependent care expenses such as deductibles, co-pays and other services
not covered by your health plan. You do not have to pay Federal, State or FICA taxes on
the money that you set aside. Employees are eligible the first day of the month following
or coinciding with employment.
Short- and Long-Term Disability
EMC provides disability coverage at no cost to employees. Employees are
eligible for short-term disability the first day of hire and are eligible for
long-term disability the first day of the month following six months of active employment.
Optional Insurance Plans
Employees have the option of enrolling in several additional insurance plans:
accidental death and dismemberment, long-term care and supplemental
life. Premium costs are paid by the employee.
Wellness Programs
EMC has a vested interest in the well-being of our employees and makes workplace wellness
a priority. Des Moines employees can benefit from a free, on-site wellness center;
employees at other locations are eligible for fitness center membership reimbursement.
Reimbursement is also available for weight loss management and smoking cessation
programs. Our third-party Employee Assistance Program provides employees and
family members with access to free, confidential, professional services to help
deal with a wide range of problems.
