EMC Insurance Companies delivered new iPads, iPad minis and laptops to 12 Iowa schools, in cooperation with each school’s independent insurance agency, as part of an effort to combine learning and technology.

EMC Insurance Group Inc. (EMCI) is listed on the 100 Most Trustworthy Companies list, announced by Forbes yesterday. The highest score in this year’s list is 99, and EMCI achieved that top score in the small-cap category.

EMC Insurance Companies completed the purchase of the Kaleidoscope at the Hub on Dec. 14, 2012. The building covers two blocks on Walnut Street from Fifth to Seventh Streets in downtown Des Moines.

EMC Insurance Reveals Dynamic New Logo Dec. 5, 2012
EMC Insurance Companies revealed a refreshed logo today to reflect the company’s position for growth, change and success. Like the previous logo, the new design strongly portrays the EMC brand, but subtle changes such as enhanced dimensions and color and the omission of the word “Companies” create a sleek, dynamic, forward-moving look.

EMC Insurance Companies Erects Crane on Walnut Street Nov. 29, 2012
EMC, owner of the Hub Tower, is renovating a cooling plant on the top floor of the Hub Tower in December. To do so, Neumann Brothers Inc. and Champion Crane will erect a 360-ton mobile crane on Walnut Street between Sixth Avenue and Seventh Street on Friday, Nov. 30.

EMC Insurance Companies Seeks to Purchase Kaleidoscope at the Hub Nov. 14, 2012
EMC is exploring the purchase of the Kaleidoscope at the Hub, the building in downtown Des Moines that covers two blocks on Walnut from Fifth Street to Seventh Street. EMC purchased the Hub Tower, the high-rise building at Seventh and Walnut, in December 2010.

EMC Branch Offices Ready for Hurricane Sandy Claims Oct. 31, 2012
Hurricane Sandy made landfall Monday evening along the southern New Jersey coast with hurricane-force winds. EMC has limited coastal wind exposure in the landfall region for its direct policyholders; however, EMC, including EMC Reinsurance Company, does have exposure along the eastern seaboard that experienced tropical storm-force winds.

EMC Receives Pro Patria Award From Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) April 25, 2012
EMC Insurance Companies received the Pro Patria Award, the highest honor from the Iowa Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), at the Iowa Annual Awards Luncheon on April 14, 2012, for the company’s support of employees serving in National Guard and Reserve programs.

EMC Insurance Companies, KCCI Celebrate 100th “Read With Me” April 2, 2012
EMC Insurance Companies, along with KCCI News Channel 8, celebrated their 100th “Read With Me” event with students at Cattell Elementary School in Des Moines on Wednesday, March 28. EMC awarded the school $500 to use for its media center, bringing EMC’s total donations to $50,000 since the program began in 2001.

EMC One of the First to Offer Comprehensive Data Compromise Coverage Feb. 3, 2012
EMC Insurance Companies rolled out a new data compromise and identity recovery product on Feb. 1, becoming one of the first of a limited number of companies to offer this kind of coverage. Designed to help small and midsize businesses respond to data breaches, the coverage provides identity recovery for key individuals within the insured organization, cost mitigation for notification and potential legal action, reputational risk-management services, and first- and third-party coverage under one policy.

EMC Insurance Companies Honored With Four ACORD Awards Nov. 15, 2011
The Association for Cooperative Operations Research and Development (ACORD) presented EMC with the Property/Casualty & Surety Round Trip of Data Award, Early Adopter – Forms Award and the Property/Casualty & Surety Most Actively Involved with ACORD Award. In addition, EMC received the Commercial Lines Download Award from the ACORD-User Group Information Exchange (AUGIE).

EMC Insurance Companies Donates $200K to Local Nonprofits Oct. 24, 2011
Four nonprofit organizations have been selected to receive $25,000 from the EMC Insurance Foundation in the final phase of the 100 Ways of Giving program sponsored by EMC Insurance Companies. In total, EMC is giving away $200,000 through the program, in celebration of the company’s 100-year anniversary.

EMC Insurance Companies was honored with two awards at the 2011 Technology, Education and Networking Conference (TENCon) in Orlando on Sept. 20. Applied Systems presented EMC with the Interface Partner and Innovation Leadership Award, and Applied Systems Client Network (ASCnet) recognized the company with the Gold Ease of Doing Business Award.

EMC Insurance Companies Celebrates Centennial, Gives 200K to Local Nonprofits Sept. 14, 2011
In celebration of the 100-year anniversary of EMC Insurance Companies, the company is offering $200,000 to nonprofit organizations in communities near EMC branch offices through its 100 Ways of Giving program. Approximately 100 top EMC insurance agencies chose one nonprofit organization to receive an initial grant of $1,000 from the EMC Insurance Foundation. Now those nonprofit organizations are competing for one of four additional $25,000 grants.

EMC Insurance Companies Receives Platinum, Gold Awards in 2010 Hermes Creative Awards Aug. 24, 2010
EMC Insurance Companies was selected out of a pool of approximately 3,600 entries from all over the world to receive both a Platinum and Gold Award in the 2010 Hermes Creative Awards competition. The Platinum Award, which is presented to the most outstanding entries in the competition, was awarded to EMC for Overall Website Design of www.emcins.com. The Gold Award, which is presented to entries that exceed the high standards of the industry norm, was awarded to EMC for Website Homepage Design. This is the second year in a row EMC has been honored with the Gold Award, which they received for their 2008 Corporate Review.
